Just the way I planned it!

We’re sitting with about 2 1/2 weeks to go and I think we have everything done! Rich picked up his wedding band yesterday; my dress is with my seamstress still – but that’s all under control; all my “stuff” is in boxes and ready to be taken to the venue on the Friday before to set up; things are looking good!

A lot of people throughout this process have commented on “how organized I am” and how “I’ve been planning every detail to a tee”. I think I've blogged about these comments in the past, as sometimes it bothered me the way it was said, but this is the very reason why I planned in advance. So that we could relax for the few weeks leading up to our wedding day.

Also, knowing that literally every-single-weekend in May is booked with us attending something or being out of town (as was much the same for the month of April), I wanted things done and out of the way so that May wouldn’t be too hard on us. And guess what. It worked out great! I knew I knew what I was doing. ;)

The Rehearsal before the Rehearsal

Last night Rich and I went to meet with the officiant who will be marrying us. She’s a lovely woman who lives out in the country with her golden retriever and two cats. She has a beautiful garden in her backyard where she often performs small marriage ceremonies as well.

We met at her house where we were greeted by Morgan (her Goldie) and he plopped himself on the couch beside me and never left our sides!

We discussed the basics….who’s walking down the aisle with me – who is standing up with Rich – timing of the day – what Rich has to do, etc. It was pretty cool. She showed us how to stand and when to turn and what to say. At one point Rich and I were standing there looking into each other’s eyes and we were holding hands, and I started to laugh a bit because it was just a dreamlike moment for me knowing this is really happening – in fact – it’s happening in one month from today!

Rich was cute too, when we went thru’ the motions of the rings, he was told to place the ring on my finger and he kind of held my hand and paused and didn’t know what to do because my engagement ring was still on and…how does he get the ring on before it? (once I explained that I’d have my e-ring on the other hand it all made sense to him).

So, the rehearsal was good and we will in all likelihood forget everything she told us, but I know she’ll guide us thru’ the day and it’ll be great. Plus, when we go for our formal rehearsal and dinner with the wedding party, we know what to tell everyone and we’ll have a better picture of how the day will go. It was a pretty cool night!

A Wedding Weekend

This past weekend we headed to Ohio for Rich’s cousin Jenn’s wedding. It was set in a beautiful state park (Burr Oak Resort) about an hour or so out of Columbus. We all had rooms at the lodge and it was on a hilltop overlooking a beautiful lake. The setting could not be more gorgeous for a wedding.

The drive there for us was a long one – 8 hours! We left on the Friday morning and (after a few pit stops along the way), arrived at the lodge around 5pm that same day. We were greeted by Rich’s family (some of whom came from South Carolina, Florida and even London, England!), and then went to one of their cabins for a good old country cook-out!

It was really relaxed and a lot of fun and we munched on burgers and dogs and then the bride-and-groom-to-be, and all their friends came and joined us in the cabin, accompanied with banjos and guitars and mandolins! It was a great night before the great day ahead.

Saturday morning we awoke to cloudy skies unfortunately, but the temperature was warm and after a yummy breakfast, we put on our boots and set out for a hike along one of the many trails at the lodge. The wedding ceremony didn’t start until 4:30, so it gave us time to enjoy our beautiful surroundings.

After lunch we went for a rest, then got ready for the wedding and joined everyone in a big room to await the bride and groom. As the music started, the sun appeared and lit up the room, which was a big A-frame style with a huge picture window overlooking the lake – this is where they stood for the ceremony and it was truly lovely!

The happy couple are very much “outdoor” people. In fact, their honeymoon is being spent hiking a portion of the Appalachian Trail, and instead of an engagement ring, Andy proposed to Jenn with a kayak!

Even though our weekend was short (we left for home Sunday morning – with of course another pit-stop at the Prime Outlet mall in Pennsylvania!)…it was great to see Rich’s family and celebrate with everyone. There was one point during the night of the wedding when Rich and I shared a dance, and it was a surreal feeling knowing this would be us in a just a few more weeks!

Congratulations to Andy and Jenn – your wedding was great and we’re so happy we were there to celebrate with you.

My Parents Are Funny.

Last night was my second dress fitting. I asked my mom to come with me because I want her to be part of this – so my dad brought her down (they live up north) and he decided to come with us too. My seamstress is a lovely little Portuguese woman (Grace) who is very gentle and easy going and gives brides her undivided attention. In fact – she only sees me after hours so that we’re not disturbed and she says that nobody is allowed to come to the dress fittings with me because, in her experience, people tend to give ‘too many opinions’ and it puts pressure on the bride to maybe not say what she really would like to have done with the dress. But because my parents were here from out of town, she said it was okay for them to come.

So, I told my parents that they’d have to sit there and not yell out their opinions cause Grace knows what she's doing. She’s been making and altering bridal gowns for over 35 years and she knows what looks good, what doesn’t – what will help, etc. Plus – my dad is a very honest man and he hadn’t seen my dress yet, so I was a little apprehensive in case he didn’t like it on me. So, my parents promised me that they’d “be good” and wouldn’t say a word and they would just sit and watch.

So we get there and they say their hello’s and mom and dad sit down (it’s one big room). I go into the change room to put my dress on and no sooner do I come out of the room and step onto the pedestal, does my mom hop out of her chair and runs over to the mirror to look at me and then my dad gets up and comes over too, and then my mom asks Grace if she's going to shorten the hem and my dad says “don’t cut the train” and then my mom says “she won’t cut it hun…she might shorten it – right Lise?” and then my dad says "are you wearing a crown"...and then my mom is like “it's not a crown hun - it's a veil" and then they banter back and forth about it cause my dad actually meant a head band not a crown or a veil and he pulls a sample one out from one of the cabinet displays and puts it on his head and says "like this I mean"….and meanwhile poor little Grace is standing there looking up at me cause she's 3 feet tall and I’m on the pedestal mouthing the words “I’m sorry” to her, and so I had to yell at my parents and tell them to "sit down and not speak".

So back they go to their chairs, and they pull them a little closer to where I was standing so they could see me better. Grace continues to pin and tuck and we discuss the neckline and the straps and I can see my dad fidgeting…and ‘lo and behold…he stands up and says “oh no...don't do that...it's looks better like this….leave it like this…I like this"...and then mom jumps up and comes over and says "wait hun – what about this way” and I'm like "IT'S NOT DONE YET” and little Grace is just humming and pinning and trying to ignore them.

And then, nearing the end, when I put on the veil (which a very kind friend at work is lending me – thanks G!)…my parents lit up like the sun! I think I literally heard them "ooohh" and “aaahh". It was hilarious. They were like "wow – now you really look like a bride" "we LOVE the veil"..."use that veil!!".

So that was my night for about 45 minutes while my dress was adjusted. I love my parents more than anything, and was so glad they were there with me – but…they didn’t listen to the rules! I guess after years and years of me not listening – it was payback time!

Oh, and by the way, my dad loved my dress! (well….at least he told me he did – which is really all that matters). And he looked great in the crown! :)

Showers of Happiness

I don’t really think of myself as a princess, but you wouldn’t know that from the beautiful bridal shower my aunts and sisters-in-law put on for me this past weekend.

It was a surprise shower – the plan to get me there was that I was having a luncheon with my aunts and sisters-in-law and my mom. But who lunches at 3pm? And why is my sister-in-law’s mom in the van (she picked me up) - and what’s with all the gift bags? So I figured it out quite quickly, but I was still super-stoked to get there and start my fun afternoon!

In I walk to my Aunt’s house, and I was expecting a huge yell out of “SURPRISE” and I was practicing my ‘surprise face’ but when I walked in, nobody was there! The room was completely empty – I kid you not! I could hear everyone downstairs laughing and talking, etc. I guess nobody was looking out the window for me! It was kind of hilarious really!

I took a minute there by myself to look around me. The foyer of my aunt’s house was full of pink and white organza and tulle and ribbons and the banisters were covered the same and the lamps and chandeliers were all sparkling and dangling and covered with organza too…it was like a wonderland of sorts.

So downstairs I go…and then after standing there for a few minutes once people realized I’d arrived – I hear “Surprise!”….and the fun began. My chair was a huge puffy loveseat covered completely with organza and beads and jewels with white hearts dangling above it from the ceiling, and the 60 odd inch (HUGE) tv screen had an image of a beach on it with waves going back and forth and I felt like I was in a different world! It was really beautiful.

We played games, I got beautiful presents, and the food was delish! (thanks Auntie Lin!). My future mother-in-law and sister-in-law were there too, which meant a lot to me, and my awesome bridesmaids helped so much, and of course all of my family.

All of the decorations and gifts were beautiful and wonderful – but what meant the most to me was the people that were there to share in that day, and knowing that everyone is truly happy for Rich and I. That’s what counts and that’s what made the day so special. With all the planning that has been done over the past year, I have to admit that it’s kind of fun to sit back and enjoy these special events that are taking place now!

Oh What A Night!

Oh what a night is right! Saturday was my stagette and boy did we do 'er up right! My evening started with much anticipation, as I was due to be picked up around 5:30 pm to head to Shannon's condo downtown. As the time ticked away, it was closer to 8:00 when I finally arrived! But no sooner had I stepped inside, I was given a shot glass and a huge "cheers" from all the girls and the fun began!

All of a sudden I had a p*nis necklace draped around my neck, a p*nis drinking cup and of course, p*nis straws to make it all go down that much smoother! And I was crowned Miss Bachellorette with a sash and all!

There were about 15 of us I think, and we had a pre-bar party at the condo. Shots were had, laughs were abundant and the music was great thanks to a bachellorette mix made for me by the Tobemeister. (thanks Toby!) But something was up. Shannon turned to me and said "ok...for now you can do what you want...but at 8:30 I tell you what to do".

So of course - red flag - not sure what's going on, but I continue to drink and dance and be merry. Then I said I wanted to change my shirt, but apparently I was not allowed in the bedroom to do so. Right away I thought for SURE they had a stripper locked up in the bedroom just waiting to come out! I threatened to jump off the balcony (of the 33rd floor) 'cause i told the girls 'no strippers' - just not my thing!

So 'lo and behold - I'm told to sit in the chair and I'm anxiously waiting, and then out of the room come bags of presents!! my bridesmaids and friends had a surprise shower for me! It was amazing because I found out about my family showers that are coming up, but I had no idea the girls were doing this for me. It was really amazing and a total shock! I was finally surprised! So good job ladies!

But of course, no bachellorette party is complete without a trip out to a club for some good old dancing! Off we went to Devil's Martini - an older club in Toronto, but it was renovated not too long ago. Apparently it's pretty well known for it's stagettes too! So off we all went and we were on guest list so we got right in.

Before I could turn around, I had drinks in my hand and shots being poured down my throat and the boogie-woogie night had begun! (And note to self - you are not 19 anymore so the "go down low" dance is why you can't walk today). I must say... Yaggemeisters (spelling?), mixed with Goldschlagger, mixed with Apple Sours really don't go well together - but at the time I didn't really care!! If you put a shot in front of me, I was doing it!

But boy oh boy - the next morning I sure paid for it! Not a pretty sight and I'll spare you the details. But I had a fabulous night - we danced and drank and sang and laughed. I was pretty sloshed! But that's the point right? It was my stagette and my night to party with my girls. Here are just a few pics from the condo. I don't have any from the bar yet, but once I'll get I'll post those too. So thank you everyone for a great night! I won't forget it.

My Stagette!!

My stagette is this Saturday!! I am told there are about 15 or so girls coming - we're heading to my bridesmaid's condo for pre-drinks and eats - then out to a club in the T. Dot -- I will let you know how it goes! I hope they don't make me wear a veil with penises on it. Could happen.

It’s getting closer…

Yesterday marked 2 months until the wedding! Everything is great and things are running smoothly (I’m knocking on my head as I write that). The only (somewhat impt.) outstanding things we have to do is get our marriage license and our wedding bands (which are being made for us).

We have lots of things coming up in the next few weeks: my first dress fitting, meeting with our officiant, our menu tasting, my hair and make-up trial, my stagette (yee-haw!), rich’s stag (won't be as fun as mine) ;) Fun things that we are looking forward to.

The RSVPs are coming in much slower than I anticipated. I think because I sent ‘save-the-date’ cards, I assumed people would already know whether or not they’d be attending. We still have time to get our numbers in, so it’s okay, I’m just a bit surprised that’s all. As I write this, I think we have back about 35 of the 90 invitations that were sent out.

The weather is warming up, the sun is shining more, and I am feeling more excited each day. Not really nervous yet. I’m more just wondering how I will feel waking up on my wedding day, knowing that one of my biggest dreams is about to come true! I can't seem to grasp how that will feel. It's a pretty powerful thing and I just want to take every moment of the day in as much as I can.

The past 11 months that I’ve been engaged has been a wonderful experience and one I will never forget. Lots of people hire wedding planners, but for me, I’ve truly enjoyed doing this on my own (with help from family and friends of course) and I feel like it’s really “my” wedding and it will be all I imagined it to be. I think I will just appreciate everything so much more in the end.

I realize that not everything always goes as planned, but as long as Rich and I say “I do” – that’s all that really matters in the end. (well, that and that nobody is late and the sun is shining, and my hair looks good and the music rocks and the food is great and it doesn’t rain and ……………)

P.S - Our boy Jackson has helped too - with our table numbers...what do you think?

sorry it's been awhile...

Hey all...pardon my lack of electronic communication. Truth is, when I work on a computer all day, it's hard to go home and turn one on!

So - Spring looks like it just might be here! This weekend is supposed to be a great one! Rich and I are off to do some shopping at the outlet malls in niagara falls USA. Not looking for anything specific...just browsing...but i'm sure we'll come home with a couple of things.

176 people have been invited to the wedding. As of tonight, we have 74 Yes's! A couple party poopers, and the rest, we are anxiously awaiting their reply.

Rich's stag has been planned, as well as my stagette (whoo hooo!) and things are falling into place. i'm scheduled for my first dress fitting in a couple weeks. and the bridesmaid dresses are in - they just need to be altered (shortened) and that's that!

Its really late and i have to go to sleep, but just a quick hello to say i'm still here and I will check back in a day or two with a better, more fullsome post.

Invites are Out!

We sent our wedding invitations out last week – Thursday afternoon to be exact – and when I called my aunt the next day (Friday) to say hello, she said “wow! I can’t believe you’re calling me at this exact moment – I just opened your wedding invitation!” On Tuesday this week, two more RSVPs had arrived. Way to go Canada Post!

Or so I thought…..

Yesterday we got home from work, and I was excited to see two small envelopes hanging out of our mailbox as I came up the driveway. I knew they must be more RSVPs. I wasn’t quite sure why they were hanging out of the mailbox though – they are quite small and easily fit into the box. As I approached, I could see that they were not the crisp white envelopes we had sent with the invitations. They instead were wet, soppy, muddy, envelopes with shoe prints and smudges all over them. They were so limp and soggy that they nearly fell apart when I reached for them.

We’re not really sure what happened, but my thought is that Mr. Mailman dropped them along the way and they got strewn across the sidewalk, street, etc. and some nice neighbour found them and delivered them to our mailbox. Nothing else makes sense.

Not a huge deal. The cards inside were still legible, but it kind of made us wonder if any others were lost along the way. At the end of the day we can just call anyone who we haven’t received a reply for, but you know, take a little care man!

Oh, and my centerpieces are all finished! My bridesmaids were over on Friday night and we worked away at those (whilst munching on popcorn and doritos and a few cold Coronas - mmmmmmmm!). One more thing I can check off the list.

We also have all of our favours ready for the guests. My brother was a big help with those!

Anyway – that’s all for now…but I cannot forget to wish you a happy easter – below are some Easter Buns to get you thru’ the weekend! Have a good one! ;)

Was'n That A Party?

On Saturday evening, we had our first "wedding party" party! The guys had never met the girls, so we got everyone together for dinner and drinks. Rich and I planned out a great menu - butter chicken, coconut rice, beef patties, chicken curry rotis, fried plantain, cheesestraws (which I made myself), chow mein with chicken, and some pine tarts for dessert (pine = pineapple) - oh, and can't forget the cheesebread (homemade by Bernie X). There were also appetizers and of course, lots of booze! Everyone was really comfortable with each other and basically the whole night was spent laughing (at either rich's or my expense it seemed), but was still a lot of fun. We even ventured downstairs to the bar and did some shots together and not long after that I was outside on the sidewalk doing cartwheels. In perfect form if I do say so myself.

And of course, what's a party without music right? So, up I went to get my iPod, hooked it up and the tunes started playing. Everyone wanted to hear some of our song choices for the wedding night (bridal party entrance, bridal party dance, etc.) - and if you know me at all - you know that I don't do anything without a lot of time, thought and preparation put into it. Any song that I've chosen for a specific part of my day has a meaning to it, and is chosen for a reason.

So I was very excited to play the songs for them! For the bridal party entrance I found a great remixed "island" type of song...upbeat, great rhythm and with rich and his boyz being from da islands mon - I thought it was so fitting and would be a hit. It starts to play and I'm in the groove bustin' my move, and right away I see some noses start to scrunch...so I think we might go with something else that everyone will like! Music is a huge part of the reception - I mean - it's what makes the night! and that's why we've hired a great DJ who's up on his stuff. So I'm sure everyone will get their groove on.

It was a fabulous, fun night with friends and family and laughed and joked and I loved having everyone together talking about the wedding and each other and all the fun we're going to have. Rich and I have an amazing group of people standing up for us - we're very lucky. :)

Always....!!

Some of you may have already come across this - it's an actual letter from an Austin woman sent to Proctor and Gamble regarding their feminine products. It's PC Magazine's 2007 editors' choice for best webmail-award-winning letter. I had to post it because it's so true - and hilarious! (sorry guys...)

Dear Mr. Thatcher,

I have been a loyal user of your 'Always' maxi pads for over 20 years and I appreciate many of their features. Why, without the LeakGuard Core or Dri-Weave absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding or salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the beach in tight, white shorts. But my favorite feature has to be your revolutionary Flexi-Wings. Kudos on being the only company smart enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I can't tell you how safe and secure I feel each month knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants.

Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? Ever suffered from the curse'? I'm guessing you haven't. Well, my time of the month is starting right now. As I type, I can already feel hormonal forces violently surging through my body. Just a few minutes from now, my body will adjust and I'll be transformed into what my husband likes to call 'an inbred hillbilly with knife skills.' Isn't the human body amazing?

As Brand Manager in the Feminine-Hygiene Division, you've no doubt seen quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your customers monthly visits from 'Aunt Flo'. Therefore, you must know about the bloating, puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about our intense mood swings, crying, jags, and out-of-control behavior. You surely realize it's a tough time for most women. In fact, only last week, my friend Jennifer fought the violent urge to shove her boyfriend's testicles into a George Foreman Grill just because he told her he thought Grey's Anatomy was written by a bunch of drunken chimps. Crazy! The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that America is just crawling with homicidal maniacs in Capri pants.

Which brings me to the reason for my letter. Last month, while in the throes of cramping so painful I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my uterus, I opened an Always maxi-pad, and there, printed on the adhesive backing, were these words: 'Have a Happy Period.'

Are you f**king kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of your tiny middle-manager brain really think happiness - actual smiling, laughing happiness is possible during a menstrual period? Did anything mentioned above sound the least bit pleasurable? Well, did it, James?

FYI, unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak girl, there will never be anything 'happy' about a day in which you have to jack yourself up on Motrin and Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just so you don't march down to the local Walgreen's armed with a hunting rifle and a sketchy plan to end your life in a blaze of glory.

For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you just have to slap a moronic message on a maxi pad, wouldn't it make more sense to say something that's actually pertinent, like 'Put down the Hammer' or 'Vehicular Manslaughter is Wrong', or are you just picking on us?

Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective immediately, there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I have chosen to take my maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly miss your Flex-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your brand of condescending bullsh*t. And that's a promise I will keep.

Always.
Best,
Wendi Aarons

(now isn't that just the best!!??)

Give My Regards To Broadway….

Hey all. Oh my Gaw! Only 3.5 months to go! Can you believe it? Me neither. Sometimes I stop and think – is this really happening? Right now it’s all still a dream about this fantastical day that is going to happen. Through all of my planning, I’ve come to realize, getting married is almost like putting together a broadway show!

First – you need the storyline: “boy meets girl – boy falls madly in love with girl cause she’s so fabulous; boy and girl get married!”.

Second – a title: “Lisa & Rich’s Wedding”. Perfect.

Third – a writer, producer and director – That would be ME!

Let’s not forget the Cast: Bride, Groom, Wedding Party, Family and Friends;

Art Director – (Photographer);

Music and Lighting Director – (DJ);

Food and Beverages – thank you Venue!

And of course – the audience – that would be YOU!

The curtain raises and VOILA! “Lisa and Rich’s Wedding” has its opening night! (day)

You hold your breath and hope that all goes as planned – so much time spent preparing and planning. All you can do is have faith and relax and let everything go. The opening line “we gather here today… followed by a lovely script of warm fuzzies, and coming to the finale when the groom may kiss the bride”.

The crowd is on it’s feet – they are happy and smiling and clapping - a standing ovation! And you take your bow. Well Done I Say! Well Done Indeed! (See – I told you I’m living in a dream world! ;)

A Productive (and fun) Weekend!

This Saturday, Rich and I decided we’d go to look for a suit for him for the wedding. Well, I decided. Rich agreed. His sister had mentioned a men’s suit store in the city so we thought, what the heck, let’s give it a try.

We had an amazing experience there! I’ll give it a plug- it was “Tom’s” in Kensington. Amazingly good service and great prices too. Right away the salesman, William, took one look at Rich and pulled 3 suits down for him to try on. They all fit him very well, but one in particular stood out and he looked SO handsome in it. Even though he didn’t have on a proper shirt, tie, shoes etc. – you could tell it was a great cut for him and it was “the one”.

Rich told William he’d take it, and right away a tailor was marking the hem on the pants and within 10 minutes, Rich had a suit that fit him perfectly and it was packaged up and ready for us to take home with us. He also got a shirt and tie for the big day, as well as ties for our ushers. The selection at this store was great – the service was great and the prices couldn’t be beat. What a great day! (and hello!!! how easy do guys have it??? Jeeez!)

After suit shopping, we had a lovely lunch at a little French bistro in the Kensington area. Crepe cordon bleu for me and croque monsieur for Rich - It was tres delish! On our way home, we took a quick detour to IKEA, bought some fun things for the house – then home to eat our chicken roti’s for dinner that we picked up while out on our travels. YUMMERS!

Sunday was spent at home (it was FREEZING out) addressing invitations and getting them in order. I’m not sending them out just yet – but our lives seem so busy right now and time is tickin’ away! The more I can get done now, the better.

Tuesday, January 29, 2008

I got it!

My dress! It’s tucked neatly away in a big bag in a secret closet so Rich can’t see it. I’m taking it to a seamstress tonight though, as it’s about 2 sizes too big on me! I’ve lost about 20 lbs now, which I’m thrilled about – but it means a lot of alterations on my wedding gown.

I found this fabulous lady named Grace, who has been working on wedding gowns for over 35 years and she says that she “isa gonna make-a me beautiful” So – I’m holding her to that.

We did a trial run on the weekend with my hair and dress and veil. My sister-in-law is my hairstylist, so she worked her magic, and then she stood behind me to pull in the material from my dress to make it look like it fit me better. My bro snapped a few pics, and I have to say – I didn’t look too bad! I was impressed with just the trial, so I’m hoping on THE day, that it will all come together and Ima gonna be beautiful. Here’s hoping!

Cruisin’…..on a Sunday afternoon…

My parents are about to embark on a Caribbean cruise this weekend. It will be their first and they’re quite pumped about it I think. And Rich’s mom and sister just came back from a Cruise on Sunday. Am I feeling left out? YUH! I wouldn’t say my family is the “cruising type” per se – we like our freedom and not big on time constraints, etc. – however, cruising looks to be a great way to see many islands in a short time frame; the food is supposed to be out of this world; and they have a balcony cabin – so it really does sound great!

We were asked to join them, but due to wedding expenses and saving up vacation time for two trips to Europe this year, it just wasn’t in the cards. But I do wish them a great trip and I hope they buy me something! ;)

On another note – the wedding is less than five months away! Can you believe it? Me neither! But things are going great! Rich needs to buy a suit still (we’re not doing tuxedos) so that’s a bit of a ‘major’ thing outstanding…but if he knows what’s good for him, he’ll get out there soon ;)

We’ve come up with a few neat ideas and I’m so looking forward to the big day! I know that the important part of getting married is the new life we’ll begin as husband and wife, and the wonderful future we will have going forward, but being engaged has been so much fun and the best time of my life so far, so I gotta say --- I think I may miss being a “fiancĂ©” a bit!

I guess we could always get married again……to each other of course!! ;)

Still Sick....But Honeymoon is Booked!

Sniffle Sniffle...Cough Cough....you get the picture. I'm feeling a little better than I was last week, but I've still got a head cold and can't smell anything and sound like I can't pronounce my words properly. But....the time off and lazing around the house has been used productively too, as we booked our honeymoon!

A couple of posts back, I said we were thinking of going to the French Riviera to get the romance and culture of France, but also the warmth of the Mediterranean sea and its beaches. So, after reading many reviews and going on forums on trip advisor (www.tripadvisor.com - we never travel without it!), we decided that Nice (Cote d'Azur) will be our base and we booked our trip!

We will have two glorious weeks in the south of France. Our hotel faces the water and (fingers crossed) we will have a sea-view room with a balcony. I can't wait. We spent a short time in Nice last September (3 or 4 days) and there is so much more we want to see. So it will be great to have a couple of weeks to tour around and go back to Cannes and maybe Monaco, and see some more of the Old Town. But I'm especially looking forward to the beaches and sun and warmth and romance that the Cote d'Azur has to offer.

I can't wait to sip a glass of wine with my new husband (gasp!) while sitting on our terrace watching the sun go down over the Mediterranean Sea....what more could you possibly ask for? I.Can't.Wait.
